How A Personnel Accountability Kit Works:
Upon entering the fire truck, each member of the emergency crew places one of their Personnel Accountability Tags (3/4” x 3”) on the Truck Card (8” x 8”), the other Personnel Accountability Tag goes on the Incident Commander (IC) Card (3” x 5”). The Velcro placed on the back of the Personnel Accountability Tags will adhere to the Velcro placed on the Truck and Incident Commander Cards.
When the truck arrives on the scene, the IC Card is handed to the incident commander at the command post. The Truck Card remains in the vehicle. The incident commander now knows exactly who is on-site and can identify when an individual misses report.
At the end of the operation, the IC Card is returned to the truck. The crew removes their tags from the Truck Card and IC Card, returning them to the resting places on their helmets or coats until the next incident. Any tags remaining on the Truck or IC Cards alert the crew that someone has not yet reported to the truck, so they are not left behind or unaccounted for.
